
A fatal car accident occurred in Norcross on Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle crashed into an apartment building, leaving one person dead and another injured. The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. near 722 Summer Place, close to Beaver Ruin Road and Buford Highway, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP). FOX 5 Atlanta reported the car was found overturned after hitting the building and causing damage.
The car, traveling west on Beaver Ruin Road, hit the center median, crossed into the eastbound lanes, and then dropped from a retaining wall about 25-30 feet high. It crashed into the rear of a second-floor apartment. GSP confirmed the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female passenger was taken to Northside - Gwinnett hospital for treatment.
Residents of the apartment complex recalled the impact. Krystal Rome, a neighbor, told 11Alive, "There was a boom. It shook the entire building."
GSP is investigating the incident with assistance from the Norcross Police Department and Gwinnett Fire Services.
