A house party in Lauderdale Lakes turned tragic early morning yesterday when a double shooting left one man dead and another injured. The Broward Sheriff's Office responded to reports of the incident near the 3000 block of Northwest 35th Street, close to South Oakland Forest Drive and 30th Avenue. Deputies found two men with gunshot wounds, according to NBC Miami.
The victims were taken to a local hospital, where 33-year-old Antoninne Scotsman died from his injuries. The second victim is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots from a nearby house but preferred to remain anonymous.
WSVN reported that Scotsman was released from prison in November after serving time for grand theft, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. The relationship between Scotsman, the other victim, and the shooter is unclear. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward, either by contacting Detective Novak or through Broward Crime Stoppers.
