
A fatal incident was reported after a vehicle struck an electric pole and subsequently caught fire in Northwest El Paso early Saturday morning. According to KFOX-TV, the crash occurred around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Enchanted Springs Dr. and Northwestern.
El Paso Electric was promptly called out to the scene, and firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze. Despite, the swift response from emergency services, dispatch confirmed that one person was found dead at the site of the crash. The identity of the deceased has not been made public at this time.
As reported by KTSM, the Fire Department indicated that power lines were also affected and caught fire as a result of the collision. The incident, involving a single vehicle, happened at approximately 1:30 a.m.
The El Paso Police Department's Special Traffic Investigations Unit, along with fire investigators, were on the scene to determine the cause of the crash. As obtained by KVIA, a spokesperson for the El Paso Fire Department confirmed, "a vehicle crashed into an electric pole, caught fire and became fully engulfed." The ongoing investigation will likely look into factors that could have contributed to this tragic event.
