Early Sunday morning, fire crews in Commerce City battled a significant blaze that engulfed an abandoned building. As reported by 9News, South Adams Fire Rescue arrived at the scene near the intersection of 55th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard around 3:55 a.m to find the structure consumed by heavy flames and smoke.
According to the Denver Gazette, officials have stated that the building was unoccupied and that no casualties have been reported. With heavy smoke complicating their efforts, firefighters gained control over the fire, ensuring that it did not spread to adjacent areas.
The building in question was once the site of Deno's 6 & 85 Restaurant & Lounge, a historic truck stop and restaurant which closed down in 2017. As per CBS News Colorado, this landmark, known for its place in the history of Colorado's truck stops, is now added to the list of structures claimed by fire in recent years.
