A woman was reportedly kidnapped at Aurora's Martin Luther King Jr. Library on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
The Aurora Police Department said it was investigating a report involving a woman at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library around 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to the department's account shared on X by the Aurora Police Dept
Responding to a resident's question on social media about whether a woman had been kidnapped at the library around 1 p.m. Tuesday, the department confirmed that “it is appearing that is the case,” and said it had shared its initial information publicly.
Police Pursuit Policy
Aurora Police Department's vehicle pursuit rules, updated in March 2025, give officers expanded discretion to chase suspects tied to violent felonies, gun crimes, stolen vehicles, and DUI offenses, according to CBS News. The policy also requires officers to continuously assess the risks associated with a pursuit.
If the allegations hold up, the man accused could face serious charges under Colorado law. Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-3-302 defines second-degree kidnapping as knowingly seizing and moving a person without consent in a way that increases the risk of harm, a Class 4 felony, according to FindLaw. The charge can escalate to a Class 2 or Class 3 felony if the abduction involves a weapon, robbery, or sexual assault.
