The gathering aims to strengthen Fisk's philanthropic spirit and is part of a larger initiative to enhance the Fisk Fund, which is vital for scholarships, student programs, academic ventures, and campus vibrancy; attendees at this inaugural event, can mingle, partake in food from local vendors such as NoFuss Tacos and Itz a Philly Thing and groove to tunes spun by DJ King Curry, the university has detailed on its website.

In a statement released by Fisk University's official news release, Crystal Evans, the Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs, underscored the importance of such an event, saying, "We're working to build a strong and lasting culture of philanthropy at Fisk,” she further outlined that the purpose goes beyond fundraising, aiming to demonstrate the power of communal collaboration and to instill a philanthropic mindset in students from their earliest days at the institution.
