Former President Donald Trump has nominated Georgia State Sen. Brandon Beach for the role of U.S. Treasurer, a position that will include his signature on American currency. Trump made the announcement on his platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday night. According to FOX5 Atlanta, Beach, a long-time Republican, has emphasized fiscal responsibility and economic growth during his political career.
Beach has been a strong supporter of Trump's policies and has held leadership roles in Georgia, including as president and CEO of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the North Fulton Community Improvement District. His experience in economic development and community projects is seen as valuable for his new role. The nomination was shared during a committee hearing, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
As U.S. Treasurer, Beach will oversee the U.S. Mint and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, as well as safeguard the nation's gold reserves at Fort Knox. He will also advise Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The formal nomination and confirmation process are yet to be scheduled, but the role does not require Senate confirmation.
Chris Clark, President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, praised Beach's expertise in monetary and economic policy, stating, "While serving as a member of the Georgia state Senate, Sen. Beach established himself as an expert on monetary and economic policy," as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
