Fort Worth is laying the foundations for its law enforcement future, with the city set to break ground on the new Northwest Patrol Division Facility of the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) at 3900 Angle Ave. The ceremonial start of construction is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, at 9 a.m., a move that according to city officials promises to bolster police operations in the area.
The ambitious project, costing roughly $25.6 million and funded by the 2022 Bond Program with additional support from the Crime Control and Prevention District, is a clear statement of intent. Police officers, detectives, and administrative staff from different locations will find a new home under one roof, aiming to improve the efficacy of police work in the northwest sector of the city. In an article published by the City of Fort Worth, officials acknowledged that the move is a strategic one to "enhance FWPD's operational ability to serve the Northwest Division community by increasing efficiency and communication."
Construction of the 31,710-square-foot facility, designed by GFF Inc. and contracted to FPI Builders LLC, set to begin this April, signifies more than just an infrastructural upgrade. It represents an evolving approach to community policing, as it will also serve as a hub for programs like the Citizens on Patrol and offer public meeting spaces, reinforcing the bond between the community and its officers.
The groundbreaking ceremony's roster of speakers is a who’s who of local government, including Mayor Mattie Parker and City Councilmembers Carlos Flores and Macy Hill. Other notable figures include City Manager Jay Chapa and Chief of Police Neil Noakes, who will doubtless speak to the projected benefits this new facility is expected to bring when it opens its doors in the spring of 2026.
As highlighted in a recent release from City of Fort Worth, the building's design will feature a welcoming entry and front porch, a nod perhaps to an ethos of openness and accessibility. It will house the necessary offices and equipment to manage police operations within the Northwest Division efficiently and effectively. For Fort Worth, this new facility is not just a building; it's a commitment to proactive policing and community engagement.
