Residents and commuters in Frisco faced a detour headache yesterday evening, as Parkwood Blvd. was shut down between Stonebrook Pkwy. and Hickory St. to deal with the aftermath of wind damage to power poles. The closure affected traffic in all directions in the vicinity.
According to an announcement by the City of Frisco, the section of road was closed to facilitate urgent repairs, with an expected reopening time of 8 p.m., during the closure period, only local traffic for Police Headquarters or businesses just east of it north of Stonebrook Pkwy., were granted access, similarly, only local traffic for Eubanks St. or businesses around it south of Hickory St. were allowed through which has surely caused inconvenience to many.
For those looking to bypass the construction zone, the city had laid out detours: southbound traffic on 5th St. had to detour east on Hickory St. and then use Preston Rd. Northbound traffic on Parkwood Blvd. took a western turn on Stonebrook Pkwy. and then proceeded along Dallas Pkwy. to circulate back to Main St. Detour signs were prominently placed to guide the wayward drivers.
To help drivers navigate the temporary changes, the city suggested using the Waze app, which has a link to download. This can help avoid frustration from unexpected route changes and ongoing construction.
