Gallatin is preparing for a special census verification process that will involve field workers visiting homes throughout April. The city is working with the Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) to verify information from a previous census, as per the City of Gallatin release.

Field workers will begin their visits on April 7 to ensure that Gallatin's population and residency changes are accurately reflected in official records. This verification is important for funding allocation. Residents will see these workers, identifiable by badges with the Gallatin logo or town employee uniforms, on Saturdays and weekday afternoons.

Mayor Paige Brown expressed gratitude for residents' participation in the initial census data collection, saying, "We are grateful to all the residents who took part in the initial phase of special census data collection. If a census worker visits your home, we kindly ask for your cooperation to finalize the verification process. Your participation plays a vital role in supporting the growth and progress of our community," in the same release.

The GNRC, which handles regional policy and public funding, will assist Gallatin in the verification process. In addition to transportation planning, the GNRC manages economic development and aging and disability services in the region. The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development has authorized them to carry out the special census verification tasks. For more information or to confirm the legitimacy of field workers, Michelle Lacewell of the GNRC can be contacted at 615-891-5867.
