A recently proposed development project for East Grand Rapids' Gaslight Village is being reconsidered and sent back for revisions. WOODTV reports that the developer, Gaslight Investors LLC, is set to unveil a revised concept plan to the city commission on March 31, following community feedback and concerns about the project.
The specifics of the revisions have not been made public, but changes are being made after considerable input from residents at a February 17 meeting. The original plan featured 180 housing units, car infrastructure, and a seven-story mixed-use building, raising concerns due to its potential to overshadow Reeds Lake Park. These concerns led to the plan's removal from the agenda of today's city commission meeting, with many attendees suggesting that the building should be downsized.
East Grand Rapids officials noted that no formal action will be taken during the March 31 presentation. This allows for continued public discussion and scrutiny before any final decisions are made.
