The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the in-custody death of 39-year-old Edward Bailey in Atlanta. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation release, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Friday last week, when Atlanta Police responded to a 911 call about a domestic dispute involving gunfire at a residence on William Nye Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found Bailey, who was bleeding from his leg, fleeing the house. Officers chased him through the neighborhood and detained him. They provided medical care before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy is being conducted at the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, which will be reviewed by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office once completed. The Atlanta Police Department requested the GBI's assistance to ensure an impartial investigation.
