The Town of Gilbert's Christmas Tree Recycling Program has concluded another season by recycling approximately 2,000 trees. The program repurposed the trees into environmentally friendly products, according to the Town of Gilbert.
Under the program, a collaboration with Arizona Game and Fish resulted in 515 donated evergreen trees being submerged in Bartlett Lake to provide shelter and breeding grounds for fish. Additionally, the Salt River Landfill Green Waste facility processed 1,386 old Christmas trees into compost, which was used to create green landscapes, as reported by the Town of Gilbert.
In Gilbert, the local fire department used a dozen Christmas trees for firefighter training, while Aimee’s Animal Sanctuary and Goats with Horns Animal Sanctuary repurposed 15 trees for animals to play with and eat. The program encourages the community to recycle their holiday trees and supports environmental sustainability, as stated by the Town of Gilbert.
