A woman sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle while aiding a driver from an earlier crash on I-15 in Spanish Fork, Utah. The initial accident happened around 9:15 a.m. yesterday, and while the woman was checking on the crashed driver, another collision ensued, with one of the involved cars hitting her. According to KUTV, the injured woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of her serious injuries.
KSL NewsRadio reported that Sgt. Mike Gordon of the Utah Highway Patrol stated that a separate accident caused a vehicle to swerve, resulting in the collision with the pedestrian who had stopped to assist. The Utah Department of Transportation revealed that the second accident occurred at milepost 257 near Main Street, leading to temporary lane closures on the southbound side of I-15, which had been cleared by noon.
The unfortunate events began when a southbound vehicle hit a barrier on I-15 during what the Utah Highway Patrol suggests might have been due to weather conditions. All other individuals involved in both accidents reportedly suffered minor to no injuries.
The individuals' identities have not been disclosed, and updates on the woman's condition are currently pending.
