Grosvenor, an international property development firm, has installed solar arrays at two of its San Jose office properties, stepping forward in its commitment to sustainability. The newly launched solar power arrays at the Orchard Trimble property and 560 South Winchester are expected to produce 2,899 MWh of energy annually, powering roughly 400 homes annually.

As per a report by ConnectCRE, this green initiative aligns with the company's broader pledge to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance efficiency across all projects. Implementing these solar installations not only denotes a step forward environmentally but also exemplifies Grosvenor’s North American Net Zero Pathway strategy, which aims to slash emissions by 42% by 2030, moving towards a net zero status by 2050.

“We’re very proud to complete these large solar installations that contribute meaningfully to our company-wide efforts to reduce carbon emissions,” Eric Nogueiro, senior asset manager at Grosvenor in San Francisco, told ConnectCRE. In addition, Nogueiro mentioned, "The Orchard Trimble and 560 South Winchester solar arrays offer significant energy consumption offsets," highlighting the integration of AI-driven building management systems to optimize energy use within their portfolio further.

BizJournals reported that the Orchard Trimble site’s three buildings will benefit greatly, with one set to generate 1,547 MWh, saving 55% in energy, while the other two expect a 90% energy savings from an output of 787 MWh. The 560 South Winchester, located in San Jose’s West Valley, is slated to produce 565 MWh annually, contributing a 30% reduction in energy costs.

Tanja Milosevic, Associate Vice President of Sustainability at Grosvenor, underscored the importance of these upgrades by stating, as per BizJournals, “We continue to invest in carbon-intelligent upgrades, believing that this is essential from both an economic and building performance perspective, as well as for environmental impact." She further emphasized the company’s dedication to improving sustainability by executing such solar panel projects.
