Gwinnett County is enhancing community welfare by initiating the construction of a new resource center aimed at supporting mental and behavioral health, as well as providing services for veterans, families, and child development. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Gwinnett Community Resource Center, located at 1040 Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville, is scheduled for today at 2 p.m. This 84,232-square-foot, three-story facility is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, demonstrating a strong investment in public health infrastructure.
At the heart of the new center will be a 30-bed inpatient crisis stabilization unit and a 23-hour temporary observation day center for up to 15 individuals. The goal is to purely make these much-needed services more accessible to those in crisis in the Gwinnett area. According to details published by Gwinnett County, the center will also provide office space for County partners such as View Point Health.
The anticipated project has drawn attention from local authorities eager to show their support. Department of Community Services Director Lindsey Jorstad is set to emcee the groundbreaking event, with speakers including Gwinnett Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson, District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins III, and View Point Health CEO Jennifer Hibbard. These officials represent a commitment to addressing community needs by enhancing existing services and introducing new supportive programs.
