A Hallandale Beach woman was arrested for allegedly giving Botox injections without a proper license. Victoria Bronnikova, 53, promoted her services on social media under the name, Dr. Victoria, but she did not have the medical credentials required by Florida law. To perform Botox injections, one must be a licensed doctor or work under a licensed doctor's supervision. However, Bronnikova was not licensed in the state. She now faces multiple third-degree felony charges for operating her practice from an office complex on East Hallandale Beach Boulevard, according to Local 10 News.
Bronnikova was arrested after an undercover detective from the Hallandale Beach Police Department visited her office. The detective posed as a potential customer and received an offer for Botox injections. The arrest report showed that Bronnikova offered the detective injections for $295 without a prescription while working on another patient.
The arrest resulted from a joint effort by the Hallandale Beach Police and the Florida Department of Health. The Florida Department of Health warned about the risks of receiving healthcare from unlicensed individuals, stating, "Receiving health care from unlicensed people is dangerous and could result in further injury, disease or even death," as reported by NBC Miami.
Although Bronnikova claimed to have over 20 years of cosmetology experience and 13 years administering injections, her qualifications did not meet the standards required by state authorities. On her Instagram account, she advertised her services for $225. The Florida Department of Health encouraged the public to verify the licensing status of anyone offering medical services via its website to prevent unsafe practices.
