
Yesterday, a tragic incident unfolded near Mission Blvd and Gresel St in Hayward. As reported by the Hayward Police Department, a single vehicle was involved in a collision that resulted in the death of a 41-year-old passenger. Responding to the site at around 3:25 a.m. following the collision, officers discovered the vehicle tipped onto its driver's side after striking the east curb of Mission Blvd. The passenger, a resident of Hayward, was ejected and deceased upon their arrival.
While the identity of the deceased has not been released, pending the standard procedure and familial notification by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office, the scene painted by witnesses provided additional layers of concern. Two males were reported to have fled the scene after the accident. Authorities have not discounted the involvement of drugs and alcohol in this incident as they continue to investigate the contributing factors to this fatal turn of events.
