Marking National Safe Place Week, Hillsborough County Children's Services has recognized the vital role local Safe Place sites play in providing sanctuary for youth in distress. This annual observance, falling on March 16-22 this year, underscores the importance of the program which has been a part of the county's outreach for over three decades.

According to the Hillsborough County, There are around 200 locations operating as Safe Place sites where young people between 10-17 years can seek help, whether to escape domestic turmoil or to find a reprieve from conflicts at home. Numerous businesses and public services, such as libraries, fire stations, and select McDonald's restaurants, are part of this network. These establishments are mainly available 24/7, ready to offer assistance to those in need. In an effort to express gratitude, Children's Services has chosen to sweetly surprise some of these safe havens with cupcake deliveries.

Notably, three Safe Place locations in Hillsborough County received these unexpected treats: The Children's Board Family Resource Center in Temple Terrace, Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library, and Hillsborough County Fire Station 19. Children's Services gave a statement detailing the initiative, illustrating appreciation for the efforts of those who support vulnerable youth.

Safe Place, an initiative spanning nationally, remains crucially anchored at the local level. The program enables a direct, tangible impact on the lives of adolescents searching for support during times of crisis.
