A tragic incident occurred early this morning on Balboa Avenue when a 36-year-old male riding an electric bicycle was struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle. The incident occurred around 1:26 a.m. in the neighborhood of Clairemont Mesa East, as per the SDPD Watch Commander's log released by Officer D. O'Brien.
The situation unfolded in the 6900 block of Balboa Ave, where the cyclist traveled westward in the bike lane. Suddenly, as he moved to the left, he veered into the trajectory of a moving vehicle. The force of the impact proved fatal, the victim pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. The driver of said vehicle did not remain at the scene, a hit-and-run scenario that the authorities are currently investigating, as per the San Diego Police Department.
