A kidnapping incident unfolded on Wednesday morning in Horn Lake, Mississippi, when a woman and her one-year-old child were reportedly abducted from a grocery store parking lot. Izaya Kutschinski is accused of the crime, which was first brought to law enforcement's attention around 11:45 a.m. after witnesses at the Fortuna Grocery on Highway 51 North reported a physical altercation to the authorities, as noted by FOX13 Memphis.
Upon their arrival, officials encountered a situation where it seemed a woman was being forcibly prevented from leaving a white Lexus by a man. The Horn Lake Police Department (HLPD) acquired footage that corroborated the testimonials, depicting a woman being held against her will as Kutschinski kept her in the car by preventing her escape multiple times, according to WREG News Channel 3. Eyewitnesses reported the woman's cries for help before she was thrust into the vehicle, and it departed, moving northward towards Memphis.
Investigations determined the presence of the woman's one-year-old child in the car during the incident. In response to the confirmed kidnapping, several law enforcement agencies were alerted along the I-22 corridor. The search culminated when Tupelo Police identified the Lexus and attempted to stop the vehicle. Despite Kutschinski's attempt to flee, he was apprehended without further incident in Tupelo, elaborated by Action News 5, marking a swift resolution to the chase that ensued.
Both the abducted mother and her child were located safely in Memphis. Charged with two counts of Kidnapping and one count of simple domestic assault, Kutschinski was extradited back to Horn Lake, where he is currently held at the DeSoto County Jail as per the reports furnished by WREG News Channel 3.
