Deputies from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene around 11:25 p.m. last Friday upon receiving reports of the disturbance. Arriving at a home on Heights Drive, they found 58-year-old Charlene Cook deceased, as Action News 5 reported.
76-year-old Charles Reifers, identified as a resident of Lafayette County, was arrested at the scene. Authorities have not disclosed details surrounding the nature of Cook's death, and the investigation continues to unfold. According to WREG, Reifers is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center and is scheduled for a bond hearing before a judge today.
