Early Tuesday morning, a fire incident occurred behind a medical facility on South Telshor Boulevard. As reported by the City of Las Cruces, the blaze, which broke out around 4 a.m. yesterday, damaged a detached shed located on the 1200 block but was contained before it could spread to the main building.

Responding to the call, Las Cruces firefighters arrived quickly on the scene and, discovering a structure engulfed in flames, hastily applied water to the blaze. By doing so, they managed to keep the fire at bay, preventing it from reaching the nearby medical facility which could have exacerbated the situation dramatically.

Although firefighters were able to contain the fire, it still caused some peripheral damage. A nearby awning and a piece of equipment suffered heat damage as a result of the fire. Fortunately, the diligent efforts of the fire department ensured that no injuries were reported from the incident.

While the firefighters' swift action mitigated a potentially catastrophic event, the origin of the fire remains unknown. Investigators are currently assessing the scene to determine what sparked the flames and estimating the full extent of the damage wrought upon the shed and its surroundings. As of now, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, as per the City of Las Cruces.
