Drivers in Lawton will face a major detour in the coming weeks. Starting today, the intersection of SW Ard and Lee Blvd will be closed to motorists. The City of Lawton's Sewer Construction Division is undertaking extensive work on a sewer main beneath the streets, which will completely block north and southbound access through this intersection.
The infrastructure project will take time to complete. The city has announced that the affected streets will be closed until the project is finished, expected around April 7. Commuters who normally use SW Ard will need to use alternative routes for about two weeks. The project is necessary for the maintenance and modernization of the city's sewage system, with the goal of minimizing future disruptions and ensuring reliable service.
According to the official announcement from the City of Lawton, detour signs and instructions will guide travelers around the construction. Local access to businesses and residences within the construction zone will remain maintained.
