Long County Commissioner Robert Donald Parker and local business owner Tony Edward Fowler find themselves entangled in a legal snare, facing multiple felony charges following an investigation initiated by the Long County Sheriff's Office and led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). According to a detailed report released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Parker, 38, is confronting accusations which include three counts of Theft by Taking, a Violation of Oath of Office, Aggravated Assault, and a violation of the Georgia Racketeering Act, while Fowler, 30, is charged with two counts of Theft by Taking.
The diligence of multiple agencies, among them the Department of Natural Resources, the Georgia State Patrol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Georgia Attorney General's Office, culminated in the execution of three search warrants at the residences of the accused parties and resulted in the confiscation of several items that shall undergo further scrutiny, GBI's involvement began after suspicions arose regarding the misappropriation of county resources, and the investigation has since illuminated shady dealings aimed at siphoning money from Long County for unsanctioned personal enrichment. After the apprehension of Parker and Fowler, both have been processed at the Tattnall County Jail.
Gleaning insight from their investigatory endeavors, the GBI posits that there may be additional arrests on the horizon, as the case wends its way through the labyrinth of forensic analysis and evidence assessment. The public, if in possession of pertinent details that could shed light on this puzzle, is actively encouraged to extend a hand by reaching out to the GBI regional investigative office in Kingsland, or by directing anonymous tips to the GBI via phone at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), their website, or through the See Something, Send Something mobile application.
The pursuit of justice marches on, and once the GBI wraps up its inquiry, they intend to pass the baton to the Attorney General's Office, which will then shoulder the responsibility of taking the case to trial as the investigatory narrative translates into prosecutorial efforts in the court of law.
