Los Altos Police swiftly apprehended a 61-year-old man accused of stealing a bike from Los Altos High School last week. Last Friday, the suspect was reportedly spotted severing a bike lock on school premises. Quick to respond, officers arrested the suspect, who was found a stone's throw from the scene, according to a social media post by the City of Los Altos Police Department.
Not quick enough to evade law enforcement, the man was identified and arrested for various charges, including possession of burglary tools, petty theft, vandalism, and petty theft with priors. The police emphasized the seriousness of bike theft, urging the public to report suspicious activities so they can promptly handle the situation. The suspect's swift transition from thief to inmate was facilitated not by a stolen bike but by a direct ride to the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
The Los Altos Police Department concluded their statement with a touch of irony, "Instead of pedaling away, he got a ride straight to the Santa Clara County Main Jail."
