Los Altos law enforcement demonstrated the efficacy of high-tech surveillance in apprehending a suspect linked with vehicle theft last Friday evening. The City of Los Altos Police Department reported that officers received an alert about a stolen vehicle from a FLOCK camera near the intersection of Fremont and Fallen Leaf Ln. The camera system, purposed to enhance community safety, signaled officers already patrolling nearby to act swiftly on the lead.
Cornering the stolen vehicle was not without its hitches, as the perpetrator briefly evaded police sight. However, consistency in the officers' search resulted in locating the car again, this time at the 1110 block of St. Joseph, found parked and with the suspect in it. The 36-year-old unhoused man from Mountain View, sitting behind the wheel of the recovered vehicle, was promptly arrested. He faces charges for possession of the stolen property, with the vehicle being confirmed as stolen, according to the City of Los Altos Police Department's social media post.
The quick recovery operation by the Los Altos officers concluded with the suspect being booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
