Luna Park in Coney Island will open next Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, featuring an egg cream celebration. The park will host a weekend of festivities, including "our traditional egg cream christening of the Coney Island Cyclone" as the roller coaster enters its 98th year, as per Gothamist.
Luna Park is offering special promotions on opening day. The first 98 visitors will receive a free ride on the Cyclone and a complimentary egg cream, as reported by PIX11. The park will also sell discounted $40 All Day Extraordinary Wristbands, which provide unlimited access to most rides for four hours. A portion of the wristband sales will benefit local charities, including the Coney Island Sharks and Children of Promise.
Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park will open on April 13, at 10 AM, with the 40th-annual "Blessing of the Rides," according to Gothamist. The first 105 visitors will receive free rides on the Wonder Wheel, now in its 105th season. The 43rd Mermaid Parade is set for June 21, featuring sea-themed costumes and performances. The 8th annual Coney Island Ritual Cabaret will take place at 1208 Surf Ave., with Artistic Director Adam Rinn describing it as "It's sort of a throwback to the old Butoh theater." The park will operate on weekends before May 23 and after September 3, with daily hours during the summer, closing for the season on October 26.
