
Following the confrontation and assault of a 70-year-old woman last month, authorities have made an arrest. The incident, which occurred on February 8 in the 7800 block of North Broadway, began when the elderly woman approached a man she caught illegally dumping trash and proceeded to take photographs of him.
The situation escalated as the suspect, described as a light-complected male with long hair in a ponytail, reacted with hostility. He reportedly became irate and, in his agitation, struck the woman in the face with his fist. According to the SLMPD website, as of March 3, 2025, a 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault.
The suspect was not only wanted for this particular act of violence but also faced charges issued by the Circuit Attorney’s Office, including Assault 3rd Degree – Special Victim and Tampering with a Witness. The arrest followed an outreach for community assistance to identify and locate the assailant, with law enforcement releasing a photo and description to aid in their search.
