
A 30-year-old man was left critically injured following a stabbing incident in Chicago's Loop area on Monday evening, close to a Blue Line station, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. According to the Chicago Police Department, the altercation took place in the 100-block of North Clark Street around 9:18 p.m., where the victim engaged in a heated verbal disagreement with two other individuals, during the argument, one of the assailants produced a knife or similar sharp object, slashing the man’s neck and leg before both suspects fled the scene.
The victim, who has not been named, was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his injuries warranted a critical condition status; as of yet, no suspects have been apprehended in the attack. The Chicago Sun-Times details that Area 3 detectives are currently leading the investigation into the stabbing. ABC 7 Chicago echoes details of the incident, citing a statement from Chicago police, which confirmed that the victim incurred a laceration to the leg and neck, detailing further that the incident occurred after a verbal altercation escalated, and the offenders took flight on foot after the event.
