
A man was found dead following a shooting incident that occurred Sunday night in Memphis, near the Downtown area. According to Local Memphis, Memphis Police responded to a call around 10 p.m. in the 500 block of Ratliff Lane, where they discovered the victim deceased at the scene.
Details surrounding the incident remain scarce as investigators have yet to release suspect information. The recent shooting adds to a troubling pattern in the area; from March 2024 to 2025, the vicinity within a half-mile radius of Ratliff Lane has seen police called 364 times for various violent crimes, including homicides, assaults, robberies, and offenses related to weapons. In a statement obtained by WREG, one man, who was visiting family nearby when the gunfire broke out, expressed his concern for the safety of his grandchildren and called for answers, identifying drugs as the root cause of the violence that plagued the community.
Despite community concerns and an ongoing investigation by the authorities, officials have yet to make any arrests in connection to the shooting. With no suspect yet apprehended, the investigation continues as officials sift through evidence and await tips from the public that could lead to a break in the case.
