A man has been found dead following a blaze that ripped through a mobile home in north Phoenix. According to ABC15, the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. last Friday, near 35th Avenue and Beardsley Road. Phoenix Fire Department responded to multiple calls about a fire at the structure and arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the mobile home. The victim, who has not been identified beyond being a male, was discovered deceased inside.
The response team, still at the scene, continues probes into the cause of the conflagration, as yet unknown. There were no reported injuries among the firefighters. The adjacent homes were saved from the spread of the fire by the quick action of the crews. In an updating situation, more information is expected to be provided as investigations progress.
In a related report by AZFamily, the man who perished was revealed to be a 67-year-old disabled individual. Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller stated that the man was "reportedly handicapped." Firefighters also confirmed that a neighbor in an adjacent home managed to escape without harm, while several other structures on the plot were at risk but were successfully protected by the firefighters' efforts.
