
Chaos erupted at O'Hare International Airport in the early hours of Wednesday when a disagreement among several individuals spilled onto the streets outside Terminal 2, leading to a shooting that injured a 25-year-old man. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the victim was shot twice in the lower body and was subsequently taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was reported to be in stable condition by police.
The altercation, initially contained within the confines of the airport, quickly devolved to become a violent confrontation on the street. A law enforcement source disclosed to the Chicago Sun-Times that several rifle rounds were recovered at the scene. Following the incident, operations at O'Hare were impacted, with all lower-level arrival lanes being temporarily closed. However, by 5:15 a.m., the Department of Aviation confirmed that the lanes had fully reopened.
Meanwhile, ABC News reported that witnesses at the site observed dozens of shell casings on the ground. Detectives are currently investigating a white BMW that was stationed outside Terminal 1, which may be connected to the incident. An individual believed to be linked to the shooting is being interviewed by detectives, though no information regarding motives or the relationships between those involved has been released.
