A violent altercation on a Metro Bus in the Fountain Park area has left a man with several injuries and another in custody. The incident took place yesterday on the 900 block of N. Kingshighway, as confirmed by local authorities.
Around 9:30 a.m., a 53-year-old individual stepped onto the bus at Delmar & Kingshighway and took a seat. Shortly after, a 28-year-old man – without any apparent provocation – assaulted the older man with a sharp metal object. After being cut in the face, a struggle erupted between the two, which ended with the 53-year-old managing to subdue his attacker until law enforcement arrived, having received various lacerations and bite marks during the skirmish.
The victim was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care, as per St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The assault led to him sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, primarily lacerations and bite marks on his head and face area. The younger man claimed to have no injuries and thus declined any medical treatment before police officers took him into custody.
The reason behind the attack remains unclear, and District 5 continues its investigation into the precise circumstances of the altercation. "A fight then ensued between the two of them, however, he was eventually able to hold down the 28-year-old man until police arrived," as reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
