Early Sunday morning, a road rage incident on Interstate 85 southbound resulted in a 56-year-old man being shot in the head, causing him to bleed near his eye. Troup County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene near mile marker 21 around 6:30 a.m., where they discovered the victim parked on the interstate's edge. He was subsequently rushed to a hospital in the Columbus area for treatment. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the shooter, believed to be driving a silver Hyundai or Kia SUV, had allegedly cut off the victim multiple times before firing several shots at his vehicle.
While the perpetrator was last seen heading south on I-185 and still remains at large, the sheriff's office indicated that this violent outburst appears to be an isolated incident related to road rage.
