
A 37-year-old man became an unexpected target when a silver SUV approached him while walking home in the 5500 block of Lillian, Walnut Park East neighborhood. The incident, which occurred yesterday, has left the community with more questions than answers as the search for the shooter continues.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the man reported that an unidentified person, or persons, opened fire from the SUV, striking him in the arm. Despite his injury the victim managed to get to his home, from where he reached out to the police for help. The authorities were notified, and emergency medical services were quick to respond.
Following the attack, EMS transported the injured man to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical/stable condition. His identity has not been disclosed, and as he recuperates, law enforcement officials are piecing together the moments that led up to the shooting. The motive behind the gunfire is still unclear, and no suspects have been named at this point.
