Marietta's Gone With the Wind Museum is slated to host a community event, "Blooms and Butterflies," at the picturesque setting of Brumby Hall and Gardens. This social gathering is set to take place on Saturday, March 29, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Visitors will have a chance to engage with history and nature through a variety of activities designed for enthusiasts and families alike.
Visitors to the event can expect guided tours of the Historic gardens, provided by Rich Deckman, Deputy Director of Parks, Rec & Facilities, with slots available at 11 am and 1 pm. The gardens, they will learn, are not just an assemblage of flora but are imbued with the narratives of those who have traversed and cultivated them since 1925. At noon, attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from Franny DuChene of the Master Gardeners and plant the seeds of knowledge alongside actual seeds.
The event also includes access to the Historic Gardens, which is covered by the regular museum admission. This ticket also grants entry to the Tara exhibit, where the Old South feels frozen in time. Adults pay $10, while students, seniors, and military personnel get in for $7.
The museum's mission, to preserve, celebrate, and share the significant cultural and historical impact of Margaret Mitchell’s classic novel on literature and American history, permeates the event. Reservations aren't necessary, but for those looking for more information, inquiries can be directed to 770-794-5145 or through a visit to the Marietta City Hall website.
