Medford residents and visitors should brace themselves for a series of road and sidewalk closures that will impact traffic from March 17 to March 30, as city and construction crews set to work on various improvement projects throughout the area. According to a recent announcement on the City of Medford's official website, the work will include asphalt repairs, storm system upgrades, and ADA ramp improvements, among other things.

Among the closures, Oakdale Avenue from Stewart Avenue to 11th Street and 11th Street from Oakdale Avenue to Hamilton Street are to specifically be affected, with Knife River crews performing asphalt repairs from March 17 to March 21. Detours and flaggers will be in place to guide commuters. Likewise, lane reductions and closures on Springbrook Road, with maintenance on manholes scheduled between March 17 and March 21, are expected to notably impact traffic flow.

The storm system will also get attention during this period, with Three Dimensional Contracting crews replacing storm culverts on Angelcrest Drive at Highcrest Drive and upgrading the storm system on Cloudcrest Drive at Angelcrest Drive, from March 24 to March 28. Similarly, Ruby Drive at Papago Drive will see City crews at work performing ADA ramp improvements on March 17 and 18, necessitating lane closures and rerouting.

Not just roads but sidewalks will be affected as well. On West Jackson Street between Broad Street and Summit Avenue, pedestrian traffic will have to navigate detours from March 17 to March 21 while Herb Brower Concrete works to repair damaged sidewalk panels. Increasingly, the utility infrastructure is being bolstered, with Hunter Communications installing new underground fiber lines along various routes including Springbrook Road, North Keen Way, and Golf View Drive from March 17 to March 28, causing travelers to unavoidably experience delays.

The City of Medford urges the public to plan ahead and consider alternative routes and parking arrangements during this time. The announcement from the city reminds everyone that work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen factors. Commuters are also advised to exercise patience and caution to ensure safety in and around the work zones.
