A 15-year-old was detained after a reckless endeavor behind the wheel of a vehicle connected to an armed robbery. According to Action News 5, the incident began last Saturday evening when the victim reported a man, brandishing a black rifle, demanding at Denver Park, “Give me all your s***. Empty your pockets.” The confrontation led to the assailant fleeing with the victim's vehicle.
The subsequent involvement of law enforcement occurred yesterday morning as Memphis police officers on routine patrol witnessed a black car blatantly disregard a stop sign on Frayser Boulevard. A quick plate check confirmed the car's stolen status, and an attempted stop at Point Church and Trezevant Street was futile as the driver refused to comply, as FOX13 Memphis reported. The chase continued until the vehicle sideswiped a tree at Whitney and N. Watkins.
Following the crash, the Memphis Police Department indicated that three individuals exited the still-moving car and attempted to flee. Officers gave chase on foot, capturing the driver behind the Ed Rice Community Center after a short pursuit down Whitney Avenue. Further investigations revealed the driver's young age of 15 years, a detail confirmed by WREG News.
The teen, whose name has not been released due to his age, now faces serious charges.
