The estate of the late Cuban reggaeton singer El Taiger, born Jose Manuel Carbajal Zaldivar, will now be managed by new representatives following his death. NBC Miami reported that a Miami-Dade judge appointed two co-personal representatives: South Florida attorney Yuneymis Barreto and Katherine Riveron Garcia, the mother of El Taiger's 6-year-old daughter. They will manage his music catalog and business matters until his four underage children come of age.
Barreto and Garcia will handle royalties, licensing deals, and marketing efforts to maintain El Taiger’s relevance. The decision comes after the artist's business halted following his death in October 2024. Barreto told NBC Miami, "To release his music, to listen to his work, to new projects, to people that want to make tributes to El Taiger. We are ready to do that."
The estate also faces significant tax liabilities, as records show El Taiger had not paid federal income taxes for several years. The representatives are tasked with addressing this financial burden and submitting quarterly income and expense reports to the court.
In a related legal matter, Damian Valdez-Galloso, accused of El Taiger's murder, pleaded not guilty and faces life in prison if convicted, as per Port St.Lucie Talks.
El Taiger's family plans to appeal the state attorney’s office decision. Teresa Padron, El Taiger's former manager, said, "The family is not happy for the decision the state attorney's office has made so they will be appealing that decision," in an interview with NBC Miami.
The representatives are focused on preserving and expanding El Taiger's artistic legacy, planning to release new content and support tribute projects.
