Following reports of a man fatally injured from a stabbing last month outside a Downtown Miami eatery, police have made an arrest. Miami Police announced Saturday the apprehension of 59-year-old Luis Acosta-Barbon, who is now charged with second-degree murder related to the incident that occurred on February 5, outside the El Cacique Lunch Restaurant. According to a CBS News Miami report, authorities found the victim, bleeding on the sidewalk, who was later declared deceased after life-saving efforts at Jackson Memorial Hospital proved unsuccessful.

The police indicated that prior to the stabbing, an altercation over money owed by the victim to Acosta-Barbon had occurred. Following the incident, surveillance video from the area was retrieved that suggested a person, later verified as Acosta-Barbon, traveling toward the crime scene. This information, along with several witnesses, was instrumental in building the case, as detailed in arrest documents. Further investigative efforts led to a CrimeStoppers tip on February 18 that pointed to Acosta-Barbon, after police reviewed his phone records and discovered calls from numbers linked to him.

Further strengthening the case against Acosta-Barbon, a photographic line-up was conducted after a witness came forward with information about the victim's previous mention of owing money to someone with the nickname "Flaco." The witness positively identified Acosta-Barbon as the person in question. In a development shared by a Local 10 report, it was revealed that on Thursday, following an anonymous tip, police located Acosta-Barbon cited for a traffic violation in the Allapattah area, leading to his arrest.

While in custody at the homicide office, Acosta-Barbon agreed to speak voluntarily to the police and denied knowing the victim. However, after being confronted with photos from the surveillance video that placed him at the scene, he was taken into custody. Despite the denial, authorities assert that the investigation remains active. In the meantime, Acosta-Barbon's bond court hearing led to the judge ordering him to be held without bond upon finding probable cause. The victim, identified by authorities as Wilfredo Clemente Campo Alegre also 59, succumbed to his injuries following the stabbing incident in question.
