Heads up, Atlanta drivers! If you've been cruising through Midtown recently, you’ve probably noticed some road closure signs going up along Armstead Place NW. From 12:00 a.m. last Saturday, March 22, until 12:00 p.m. today, a section of the road from West Peachtree Street NW to Spring Street NW will be closed to vehicles. The reason is that ATLDOT has construction projects to complete and needs the space to do so safely.
During this time, if you're trying to navigate the area, you will need to adjust your route slightly. Southbound traffic on Spring Street NW will need to turn left onto 4th Street NW and then loop back onto West Peachtree Street NW to reconnect with Armstead Place NW. Meanwhile, northbound drivers on West Peachtree Street NW should be prepared to take a left onto 5th Street NW, then another left onto Spring Street NW to get back on track. It’s not too difficult of a detour, but it might be just enough to make you miss that green light you’ve been eyeing.
Before you ask—yes, pedestrians still have a clear path. The north-side sidewalk along Armstead Place NW isn’t part of the construction zone, so your walk should be business as usual. And don’t worry about getting lost in the detour confusion—enforcement officers will be around to help guide you through the traffic changes.
For anyone looking to voice concerns or get more information about this situation, ATLDOT has you covered. You can reach them at [email protected], and hopefully, they’ll have the answers you need.
