A new prosecutor has taken the helm in the Ricky Floyd manslaughter case. West Tennessee Pro Tem Prosecutor Meghan Fowler is now spearheading the legal proceedings against Samantha Marion who stands accused of voluntary manslaughter over the death of Pastor Floyd, as per Wreg. Fowler steps in following the recusal of the Shelby County District Attorney's Office due to a potential conflict of interest involving District Attorney Steve Mulroy's past collaboration with Pastor Floyd.

The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference (TNDAGC) announced Fowler's appointment as West Tennessee Pro Tem Prosecutor in November 2023. Fowler, who has prosecuted over 50 jury trials, previously served as the Senior Felony Assistant for the Major Violator and Domestic Violence Units of the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, as per FOX13 Memphis. Her tenure in legal service spans 14 years, with experience gained in both Tennessee and Mississippi.

In a statement obtained by WREG, prosecutor Missy Branham said, "In order to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest of office will be recusing ourselves from representation in regard to this and hopefully there will be a prosecutor pro-tem in the hearing tomorrow." Marion, who was released on a $100,000 bond on Tuesday, will next appear in court on April 2.
