
Newton County deputies are asking for the public's help in locating two young individuals involved in a violent ambush shooting in a residential area. The suspects, Nyshiem Smith and Trevion Campbell, are wanted for questioning in connection with the incident happened Monday last week. The Newton County Sheriff's Office has warned that both should be considered armed and dangerous and urges anyone who encounters them to avoid confrontation and call 911 immediately, as per FOX 5 Atlanta.
According to the WSB-TV, the shooting occurred around 8:25 p.m. on Lakeside Circle. The attackers ambushed and shot a man multiple times before reportedly moving through several backyards in the Fairview Estates and Highgate neighborhoods. The identity and health status of the victim have not been released, and investigators are still working to determine the events leading up to the shooting.
Smith and Campbell are known to frequent areas in Newton and DeKalb counties, with Campbell also moving between Newton, Rockdale, and DeKalb counties. Authorities have noted that both suspects often wear masks, which may help in identifying them. Residents are encouraged to check security footage from the time of the shooting and provide any information that could assist in the investigation.
