Three seniors from Northwest Early College High School were recently awarded substantial scholarships to attend the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), starting next fall. A surprise visit from the UTEP Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships was made to inform the students of their financial awards, as reported by Canutillo ISD.

Out of the three recipients, Fatima Garcia Merez and Melina Holguin were awarded the UTEP Excellence Scholarship, and Brandon Enciso received the prestigious, full-ride UTEP Presidential Scholarship, said to be granted to only four individuals citywide. Rolph Zehntner, UTEP's Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid and Scholarships, noted Brandon's significant achievement within the local community.

The high-achieving students of Northwest Early College have earned their place in the spotlight, “This fact is reflected in the number of high-rigor scholarships like the UTEP Excellence and UTEP Presidential our students earned. We are very proud of the work they do and the way they represent Northwest and Canutillo ISD,” said Principal Frank Clark, as per Canutillo ISD, expressing pride in the students' accomplishments and their representation of the school and district.
