The Alameda Police Department reported two robbery arrests on Tuesday, thanks to observant locals and rapid police response. The first incident occurred around 12:30 PM at Alameda Landing Shopping Center, where a suspect was apprehended following an in-progress robbery. A statement on the APD's social media page detailed how "officers quickly located the suspect as they attempted to leave the area" and noted the retrieval of the stolen goods and a knife from the individual.
Later on the same day, APD addressed a second call concerning a potential battery at the 100 block of Maitland Drive, only to discover another armed robbery. In a quick turnaround, officers managed to locate the suspect near Harbor Bay Parkway. APD's post revealed, "A knife was recovered, and the stolen items were returned to the victim and business."
The Alameda Police Department publicly commended the citizens' vigilance: "A huge thank you to the Alameda community for their diligence in reporting these crimes directly to APD."
