
A tragic incident unfolded at the Gateway South Apartments in southwest Atlanta, where a double shooting claimed the life of one man and left another hospitalized last night. According to FOX 5, the Atlanta Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on Sylvan Road just before the strike of midnight. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men suffering from gunshot injuries; one could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene, while the second victim was swiftly transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
While the second man is expected to recover from his wounds, details surrounding the shooter or shooters remain murky, the police have hinted at the possible catalyst behind this violent night, stating, "We believe there was some type of narcotics transaction that was taking place and an unknown amount of individuals were involved," APD Homicide Commander Andrew Smith revealed in a statement obtained by FOX 5.
The deceased individual has been described as a 30-year-old man by WSB-TV, though his name remains withheld pending the notification of kin.
