An Orlando man is facing potential life imprisonment after being indicted on multiple charges stemming from a child sextortion scheme. Montrey Roseberry, 19, has been hit with three counts of coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, three counts of production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and one count of possession of CSAM, according to a press release from Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney, as published on the Department of Justice website.
From at least mid-July of 2023 to April 2024, the indictment alleges that Roseberry operated a scheme to extort and intimidate children to produce sexually explicit content. Impersonating a woman on social media, Roseberry coerced his young victims into creating images and videos of themselves. These would then be used to further blackmail the victims into making even more extreme and disturbing material. Notably, Roseberry has been ordered detained to remain in custody pending the outcome of the case.
Detailed in the indictment are threats Roseberry is said to have used against the victims, such as spreading their CSAM to family and peers or even threatening their lives if they failed to comply with his demands. The perpetrator menacingly backed such threats with personal information, including photographs of victims' homes and names of their schools and relatives. This case, investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is set to be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman.
