Parents looking for summer activities for their children can now register for the City of Peoria’s AM/PM Summer Camp Program. The camp, which caters to kids aged 5 to 14, is set to provide a full schedule running from May 27 through July 23, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. According to a recent announcement, several locations around Peoria will host the camps, laying a foundation for learning and adventure in the process.
This year, the program will integrate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) projects along with various supervised activities on-site. Furthermore, the youth will have the chance to embark on daily field trips, a feature that comes at no additional expense, to places like the Science Center and Star Gazing evenings. A new addition to the camp comes in the form of Campers Choice Clubs, which promise enrichment on days when field trips aren't scheduled, again, with no extra charge.
For families considering the summer program, the costs have been outlined and remain simple: $185 per week for attendance between four and five days, and $115 for a part-time commitment of one to three days. The rates are flat, and one cannot opt for daily rates. The fee setup includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, on-site enrichment activities, and the scheduled field escapades.
Parents or guardians interested in learning more about the camps or the staff are welcome to a ‘Meet & Greet’ occurring on May 23rd between 4:00-5:00 p.m. before the camp officially kicks off. In this gathering, families will have the opportunity, to meet those responsible for the children’s summer experience, and to inspect the facilities where the camp will be held. Information on how to register or further details can be obtained by calling 623-773-7137 or visiting the camp’s website.
