Cloudy skies and scattered showers are on tap for Phoenix as the area faces a mixed bag of weather in the coming days. According to the National Weather Service, Phoenix residents can expect a 50 percent chance of rain this morning, which should subside before 10 a.m., giving way to gradual clearing with a high near 68 degrees. Toward the afternoon, the south wind is set to pick up, potentially reaching gusts as high as 25 mph.
Shower probabilities will ramp up tonight, particularly after 4 a.m., as clouds gather and temperatures dip to around 49 degrees. While the winds will settle down post-midnight, they may still gust up to 20 mph before then. The "chance of precipitation is 60%" and any additional rainfall is projected to be less than a tenth of an inch, an expected respite before Friday's showers set in.
Friday's forecast presents a grayer outlook, with an 80 percent likelihood of showers and a high of only 58 degrees. Although the winds will start from the south at around 5 mph, a westerly shift is expected by the afternoon. Residents should prepare for more significant precipitation, with forecasts suggesting amounts between a quarter and half of an inch.
The weather seems poised to ease up by Friday night, leaving only a "20 percent chance of showers before 11pm," and transitioning into partly cloudy conditions with a low around 43 degrees. The weekend ahead promises a shift to sunnier skies, with both Saturday and Sunday ushering in clear days and comfortable highs of 68 and 76 degrees, respectively. Yet, calm winds will prevail, only occasionally swinging from calm to a gentle 5 mph breeze from various directions.
As we march into next Monday, the mercury will rise to a balmy 82 degrees under sunny skies. However, as the week progresses, Tuesday could see the return of showers, with a 50 percent chance of rain and cooler temperatures around 66 degrees. The pattern of potential evening showers continues into Tuesday night with a 30 percent chance and lows pushing down to about 49 degrees. Phoenix will round off the forecast period basking in "mostly sunny" conditions on Wednesday with highs approximating a mild 71 degrees.
